Title: Plastics, Convenience and the Environmental Price
Contact: ,
Location: Online
Since their growth in the 1940s, plastics have been a part of daily life, driven by both improved function and greater convenience. But that's come at a price: Every year 22 million pounds of the stuff wind up in the Great Lakes, about half of that in Lake Michigan. By 2050, plastics in the oceans will outweigh fish, and microplastics are showing up in rain, arctic snow and drinking water. Learn about the history of plastics, how they have become so insidious in our lives, their environmental threats and how you can reduce the plastics in your everyday life.
