Libby
Libby is a free app that lets you borrow eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines from the library using your library card.
You can use Libby on your phone, tablet, or computer.
What can I use Libby for?
Use Libby to borrow:
- eBooks
- audiobooks
- magazines
Libby is a good choice if you want digital reading or listening on your own device.
What do I need before I start?
- your 14-digit library card number
- your PIN (your phone number on your library account)
- a phone, tablet, or computer
- internet access
Important things to know
- You can borrow up to 7 items at a time
- Some popular titles may have a wait
- Magazines are available instantly
- Magazines do not count toward your 7 item limit
- Items return automatically
- There are no late fees
How to set up Libby on a phone or tablet
Step 1: Download the Libby app
Go to the App Store or Google Play Store on your device.
Search for Libby.
Download the Libby app.
Step 2: Open the app
Open the Libby app.
Step 3: Confirm you have a library card
Libby may ask if you have a library card.
Tap Yes.
Step 4: Find your library
Libby will ask you to find your library.
Search for Southwest Michigan Digital Library.
Step 5: Sign in
Enter your:
- library card number
- PIN (your phone number)
If your library card is expired, you will need to update it before signing in.
Step 6: Start using Libby
You can now browse, borrow, read, and listen.
Get access to more books!
Libby allows you to add other Michigan libraries to your account.
This can give you access to more titles and shorter wait times.
